Manny Pacquiao Predicted to Have Fifth Fight with Juan Manuel Marquez
Boxing champion Manny Pacquiao was shockingly knocked-out at the final moments of the sixth round fight with long-time rival Juan Manuel Marquez at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday night.
Despite Pacquiao's knock-out defeat, power players in the world of boxing still predicted an upcoming fifth fight between the two during the post-fight news conference.
Manny Pacquiao plummeted face first onto the canvas and was unconscious for some time. His corner men immediately rushed to his side and brought him back to consciousness.
"I hit under his guard and got in a right hand. I feel so, so happy that the referee raised my hand. This was thanks to the work I did, the result of the training," Marquez said about his sweet victory.
"I never thought he was going to beat me. I was coming strong. He came at me good, but I was strong. I was not going to lose that fight," Marquez added.
Now, talks of a possible fifth fight between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez started to surface.
"Everyone's asking me about the fifth fight. Great fights, great fighters become synonymous with each other. And when you're entertained like that, how can you not make another?" President Todd DuBoef of Top Rank, which endorses both fighters, stated.
"You can't script fights, but when you look at the body of work, it's the most engaging series of fights in the last 50 years," DuBoef added.
"They know everything about each other. This time, they decided to throw all caution to the wind and said, 'Let's get it on.'" HBO pay-per-view President Mark Taffet declared.
When asked if he is still interested to fight Manny Pacquiao for the fifth time, Juan Manuel Marquez stated:
"I know in the future I will rest and celebrate. I'm thinking more about the celebration than who I'm fighting next."
On the other hand, Pacquiao confirmed after the fight that he will also take a break but have plans to fight again. And when asked if he will face Marquez again on the next fight, Pacquiao answered: "Why not?"
