But that’s not stopping Team Algieri from believing that they have the goods to stop the eight-division world champion come fight night with one of the trainers, Tim Lane confident that his ward will stop the Filipino via a knockout.

“I don’t think it will go the distance, I think Chris will stop him.” A confident Lane declared via thaboxingvoice.com, a boxing website. “But it will definitely be Chris’ hands that’s raised.”

Lane’s confidence in his protege is owed to the fact that the Lane believes Algieri is in tip-top shape for this particular fight and that the team is well-prepared weeks before the biggest bout in Algieri’s career. In the same interview, Lane, who is also a former boxing pro, also mentioned that they have tapped sparring partners like Zab Judah and other pros who also has been sparring partners by world champion Timothy Bradley, who has faced Pacquiao twice in the last two years.

Judah is a 37-year-old veteran boxer who was known for his speed and power atop the boxing ring and also for his boxing power. Judah has won 29 of his 42 boxing victories via knockouts. Bradley won via controversial split decision in 2012 against Pacquiao before losing last April 12, 2014.

The declaration by Lane comes after another strong statement from one of Team Algieri’s team members, Mike Newson who stated that they are “really going to expose Manny [Pacquiao] in this fight”. From Pacquiao’s camp, Buboy Fernandez, a long-time friend and assistant trainer for the Filipino had said that they should not underestimate the knockout power of an Algieri.
