Airport operator MAp Group (ASX: MAP) saw its daily passenger traffic for both of Sydney Airport's international and domestic segment breaching the 100,000 mark in September, which is a record month for the terminal according to company officials.

MAp revealed on Wednesday that Sydney's domestic passengers in the month were padded by up to 7.2 percent when compared to the numbers posted in the same period last year while international passengers passing through the terminal soared by 8.2 percent in September.

MAp chief executive Kerrie Mather reported that the surge was largely due to the remarkable performances seen on all Australian airlines operating on Sydney Airport, adding that the terminal's international passenger traffic soared mainly on "high levels of Australian outbound travel, along with strong inbound growth from Korea, China and New Zealand."

Also, the airport owner experienced equally high numbers of passenger traffic on its offshore operations with the company's Copenhagen business chalking up 12.3 percent more passengers in September to two million travellers as against to the figures posted in the same month last year.

On the other hand, the company's Brussels Airport managed to register solid passenger numbers in the month, an improvement that the terminal has been seeing since February this year, as travellers' traffic picked up by to 4.1 percent in the airport.

The company said that its European operations were significantly drawing added premiums from the long haul traffic improvements seen in the region this year.

Ms Mather added that the airline industry in the continent has seen a marked turnaround as she specified that "the continuing recovery by a number of short-haul full service carriers and growth in the low cost segment is reflected in the underlying intra-EU traffic performance."
