Controversial former Prime Minister of Britain, Margaret Thatcher, dies at the age of 87 after a massive stroke.
All were saddened by the news that Britain's "Iron Lady" has passed away. She was said to have peacefully died at home after suffering stroke. Her spokesperson Lord Bell announced an official statement shortly after her death.
"It is with great sadness that Mark and Carol Thatcher announced that their mother Baroness Thatcher died peacefully following a stroke this morning," Lord Bell said.
Margaret Thatcher who is famously known as the "Iron Lady" is considered a very influential and powerful figure in the world of politics. Thatcher was also the only woman to become British Prime Minister.
She served as the leader of the Conservative Party from 1975 to 1990. And because of the toughness she exudes in her personal and political affairs, she was dubbed as the "Iron Lady." In 2002, she retired from public service after a stroke and then suffered several strokes after that.
With her death, it's not only the Brits who mourn for their loss but as well as the rest of the world. Politicians as well as public personalities have expressed their condolences to Thatcher's family. Twitter is flooded with news about Thatcher and her passing. Margaret Thatcher's funeral will be held at the St. Paul's Cathedral matched with full military honors. It will then be followed by a private cremation to be attended by Thatcher's close family and friends.
