The singer's vocal performance during her Elusive Chanteuse concert was criticised after her voice shook and she failed to reach the high notes.

Mariah Carey was reportedly mocked by fans following her Elusive Chanteuse World Tour in Tokyo, when she failed to reach those high notes she's popularly known for. Twitter fans supposedly didn't give her credit for not lip syncing. Instead some criticised her vocal range with others claiming her voice is as good as dead.

According to Inquisitr, the diva surely upset fans during her concert when she clearly struggled to reach the falsetto notes for "Always Be My Baby. " The site claimed Mariah Carey was "off-key" and credited some comments posted on Daily Mail, where she was criticised for her vocal performance. To make matters worse, she reportedly also experienced some technical problems with her personalised microphone. The 44-year old paused in the middle of "We Belong Together" and said, "Wait a minute. I can't go on" after seeing that the gold butterfly decal kept detaching from the mic. The singer apparently had no idea the large embellishment would pose a problem on stage. Prior to her performance, Mariah tweeted a photo of her gold-coloured mic (courtesy of Daily Mail) and captioned it" 30 minutes to showtime!!"

Daily Mail readers shared various notions on what may have affected Mariah Carey's vocals during her debut performance at her Elusive Chanteuse World Tour. One claimed her voice started to change ever since she had breast implants. The reader claimed the process could have caused an "inflammatory response" that affected her vocal chords. Another reader named Tande claimed the singer's performance wasn't surprising. Tande cited a source (someone who tours with the singer) who revealed Mariah was "completely wasted" during her travel from New York to Tokyo. Another reader, Philly Burbs takes on a more personal note and blamed her husband, Nick Cannon, for her poor performance. After all, Mariah Carey's concert came just weeks following her split from Nick.

However, the singer's representative claimed audiences enjoyed the concert and only had nice words to say on the singer's Tokyo performance. The rep was quoted as saying, "The comments we have heard from the fans have been great!" But Twitter fans below apparently don't share the same sentiments with the audiences.

I would like to give a shoutout to @MariahCarey for giving lip synching a rest and giving her fans the tea on how destroyed her voice is. — The Aguilerean ™ (@ISlayForX) October 6, 2014
