Mariah Carey’s Christmas Tribute – her directorial debut ‘A Christmas Melody’ [Watch Videos]

Mariah Carey has always loved Christmas, and this Holiday season will surely belong to Carey. She is already hitting headlines for her relationship to beau James Packer. If that's not enough, her film “A Christmas Melody”, that she is directing and starring in is set to be broadcast on Hallmark channel on Dec. 19. The movie also stars “Mean Girl” Lacey Chabert.

According to Jezebel, the “All I Want for Christmas is You” singer will be playing Melissa, president of the PTA and rival of the film’s main hero Kristin aka Lacy Chabert. Kristin is a “stylish divorcee” and “a talented clothing designer.” However, she has to leave her “small Manhattan boutique” to come and settle in her hometown Ohio along with her daughter Emily, played by Fina Strazza.

While it is very difficult to derive anything from the trailer, the film’s official synopsis reveals that music and holiday magic eventually makes the mother-daughter duo realise that home is where they truly belong. One can get more information on the movie at Hallmark Channel’s official website.

The trailer does not reveal whether Carey will be singing a song or two but fans are keeping their fingers crossed. It does feature the singer’s massively popular song – “All I Want for Christmas is You.” The song is proving to be instrumental in the film’s promotion.

IMDb describes the movie’s storyline as - “A gift of music transports people back to another time and place where they find their truest feelings.”

When ET caught hold of the 45-year-old Carey on the sets of “A Christmas Melody” back in October, she jokingly said, “ I'm still always going to be a diva in certain ways and I don't mean that in the bad sense of the word."

Carey recently hit the headlines for supposedly moving in with her billionaire boyfriend James Packer. When she was quizzed on that Carey said Packer owns a lot of houses and that she was simply staying at one of his many houses. She also claimed that packer wasn’t there.

What is James Packer saying about Carey's directorial debut? Probably he has chosen to be undercover for sometime and surprise his lady love with something extra-special when the time comes.
