Mariah Carey’s Australian rep has denied Perth singer Natalia’s claim that she was dumped because the U.S. diva didn’t want another female sharing her stage.

Natalia was only scheduled to perform at the VIP pre-show party for the 45-year-old songstress’ “The Elusive Chanteuse” tour stop in Perth on Sunday, but was told that due to scheduling conflict, she would be bumped to a second act at the main stage with former “The X Factor Australia” finalist Nathaniel. On Saturday, though, Carey’s Australian promoter called Natalia to cancel her main stage performance, saying Carey didn’t want a female as a support act.

Natalia talked to 2DayFM breakfast hosts Sophie Monk and Merrick Watts to express her feelings on the decision, saying she was devastated that Carey cancelled her act not because she wasn’t good enough for the main stage, but because Carey just didn’t want a female singer.

On the Mariah Carey Australia Facebook page, though, a lengthy statement was posted to address certain issues that happened in her Perth show, including Natalia’s claim.

“Reports are floating around regarding a Perth singer who was cut from a supporting act role at the last minute. She has expressly made it her mission on Twitter to get as many media-outlets as possible to blame Mariah for this,” the post on Facebook reads, refusing to mention Natalia’s name. “We can confirm that Mariah did not know anything about this decision, nor was she responsible for it.”

The note didn’t end there. It continued to say that Carey “does not deserve this treatment” especially when the Chanteuse referred to Australia as “the most beautiful place in the world.”

“A living legend is here, yet our media continue to show more respect and admiration for trashy reality stars, who have contributed less than 1% of Mariah’s impact to the world.”

The rep also addressed complaints about the late starting time, saying that while it’s true Carey was delayed, “she wasn’t running late.” The rain started before the multiple Grammy winner took the stage, and was therefore forced to wait until the stage dried for safety reasons.

Carey will continue her Australian tour in Adelaide on Wednesday.
