Mark Cuban, the outspoken owner of the Dallas Mavericks is confident that the moves that the franchise made in the 2014 offseason will lead them to greater heights in the upcoming 2014-2015 NBA Season.

“Yeah it’s been fun so far. I try never to get too excited, but I’m always excited. Getting Chandler, getting the Chandler brothers is going to be a big step forward for us,” Cuban shared to KTCK-AM 1310 radio as reported by the Dallas Morning News.

“I think we’ve gotten younger, I think we’ve got a team that is very flexible; we’ll be able to do a lot of different things. We’ve got a high basketball IQ. I’m really excited about it."

Cuban is referring to the pair of big offseason hauls for his Mavericks, which acquired center Tyson Chandler and forward Chandler Parsons in separate deals.

Chandler, along with veteran point guard Raymond Felton, was acquired by Dallas in a trade with the New York Knicks very early in the offseason. Parsons meanwhile, was nabbed by the Mavs from Texas rivals Houston Rockets after offering the shooter a max contract worth roughly $15 million a year in free agency.

Other minor moves Dallas made in the offseason include signing of veterans Richard Jefferson, Jameer Nelson and Al Faruq-Aminu, all of whom are expected to be part of the rotation of head coach Rick Carlisle.

Dallas lost forward Shawn Marion in the offseason however as the versatile forward is reportedly choosing between the Indiana Pacers and Cleveland Cavaliers as his next NBA squad.

In the last postseason, Dallas pushed the San Antonio Spurs to full seven games in the first round of the Western Conference Playoffs. The Spurs went on to win the 2014 NBA Championship while the Mavericks decided that the previous core needed some tweaking to challenge for contender status in the 2014-15 season.

Returning for another run are Mavs leader Dirk Nowitzki and scorer Monta Ellis plus other veterans like Devin Harris and Brandan Wright.

“I mean it’s crazy that we’ve gotten guys who were cornerstones not only on the court but in the locker room for a lot of different teams, and I think that’s going to make a huge difference for coach,” Cuban shared in the radio show.
