Marouane Fellaini “Could Come In Handy” Against Chelsea, Former Manchester United Right Back Says
Gary Neville claimed that Manchester United should not be afraid to be more direct in its next clash against Chelsea and he said that Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick can be useful against Chelsea.
On Monday, the Manchester United was held to a 2-2 draw against West Brom and the introduction of Fellaini arguably changed the game for the squad. The Belgian allowed Manchester United to be more direct and to bring in other attackers, as the Red Devils keenly looked for the three points.
“People say it’s not the Manchester United way, but I don’t get that,” Neville told Sky Sports. “For 25 years, Manchester United as an option, not as a rule, would lump it forward. There’s no doubt.”
Furthermore, Neville also said that Manchester United will encounter big problems from set-pieces because of the power and sheer size of Chelsea. He went on to explain that if Manchester United will play with its starting team, it will have big issues from set pieces. Chelsea has six-footer players who can head a ball and will head a ball, which will be a big problem for Manchester United.
Meanwhile, Sir Alex Ferguson insists that David Moyes’ failure at the Manchester United wasn’t his fault. The former Manchester United manager revealed in the updated chapters of his autobiography that the slow style of play his successor introduced was new to his players. He rejected suggestions that Moyes inherited an ageing team that was already in decline.
Ferguson who retired at Old Trafford in May 2013 after 27 successful years claims that he was not involved in the sacking of his successor after 10 months in the job. The 72-year-old Ferguson thinks that the former Everton manager spotted a massive jump to Old Trafford but he failed to realise how big United is as a club, according to the Daily Mail. Ferguson also added that Moyes went against Manchester United traditions by adopting more conservative style of playing.
