According to numerous Swiss newspapers, professional tennis player Martini Hingis beat up her husband with the help of her mother.

Hingis, who came out of her retirement to play the doubles tournament in California in July, apparently, launch an assault on herhusband, Thibault Hutin.

"At the evening of Monday, I was in our common apartment when the doorbell rang. Then, in the course of a heated discussion, Martina and her mother Melanie Molitor attacked me suddenly," Hutin told the Blick Daily. "They started beating and scratching me," he added. "I was brought up not to hit women," Hutin continued.

"I tried so hard to stop them, but Melanie's partner, Mario Widmer, hit me in the head with a portable DVD player," Hutin said.

Hutin immediately called the police to report that his credit card and passport were taken by his assailants and that he received text messages threatening and menacing him.

"I am extremely scared of my life, what will they do next, kill me with a bullet," Thibault Hutin said when interviewed.

They married in Dec 2010 in Paris. Hingis announced that she has separated from Hutin in July 2013. This is the same month that Hutin made an allegation that he saw Hingis with another man, cheating on him, only after the first year of their marriage. Despite Hingis' infidelity, Hutin took her back. However, Hutin claimed that he found Hingis cheating again.

Now, Hingis and Hutin are currently waiting for their divorce to finalise.

"Hutin is starting the process to file a legal complaint, but it has not been confirmed yet," police spokesperson said.

As stated prior, Martina Hingis previously retired from playing tennis but came back to play in California for the doubles tournament. She was scheduled to play for the Pan Pacific Open but pulled out due to some private matters.
