"Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D" returned with the second half of Season 1 with its Episode 11 "The Magical Place" after a month's hiatus.

Ever since the show went for its winter break leaving its fans with a cliffhanger, it has anticipated receiving responses to their questions in the returning episode. The answer to Phil Coulson's death was finally revealed on Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 1 Episode 11 The Magical Place Jan. 7. Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 1 Episode 11 The Magical Place revolves around the events that took place in agent Phil Coulson's personal life and mystery behind his death and resurrection.

Coulson has a tormenting past wherein he witnessed the death of both his parents. Upon urging by Centipede's Raina, Coulson's truth behind his death was finally revealed using Centipede's brain machine. Raina convinced Coulson to use the brain machine to unfurl the buried memories in his brain related to his life events when he was captured by Centipede.

He finally recalled what happened in Tahiti. He saw Dr Streitan (Ron Glass) as his surgeon in an operating room. He recalled Nick Fury's face and the operating room where he was lying as the robotic machine operated on his exposed brain. In the flashback, he saw he was begging to let him die.

In present day, agent Skye and May invaded the location where Coulson was captured by Centipede, and Raina was urging him to dish out the much sorted after information about his resurrection. Instantly, May switches of the brain machine and Skye attempts to bring back Coulson to consciousness.

The episode was followed by a shocking confession of Dr. Streiten to Coulson about what happened to him in the past. He revealed it was Nick Fury who was behind his resurrection, while doctor himself was against the surgery. He told that Nick Fury had "moved heaven and earth" to bring Coulson back to life.

Dr. Streiten performed seven surgeries before he succeeded in bringing him back to life as demanded by Nick Fury. Unfortunately, by that time Phil Coulson had lost his will to live and had become "that thing." Thus they performed the brain surgery to remove the terrible memories and restore what he was and had before.

Centipede's Raina was taken into the custody by Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Ward took over interrogation of hard-to-crack Vanchat who until now had refused to talk. But Ward used his might to make Vanchat finally talk.

Besides revealing the answers to the mystery behind Phil Coulson's death, the episode also revealed that Centipede's superhuman Mike Peterson is actually alive. While Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Victoria Hand believed that Mike Peterson was burnt to death, he was shown awakening in a dark cell. The implant in his told him "Stand by for further instructions." Will Centipede discover that Mike Peterson is still alive? Tune into "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." when it returns with its Season 1 Episode 12 titled "Seeds" Jan. 14.
