ABC's "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Season 2 is almost two months away. However, spoilers and information of the upcoming season have begun to surface. Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 2 Casting News

On July 21, TV Guide reported that "Xena: Warrior Princess" actress Lucy Lawless has joined the cast of "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Season 2.

Soon after, Deadline broke the news that "Quantum of Solace" actor Simon Kassianides will also be seen in the upcoming season. According to the report, the actor will portray the character named Bakshi in a recurring role. He is described as "confident right-hand man who's not afraid to do the dirty work."

Fans must prepare themselves to meet many new characters besides those being portrayed by Lucy Lawless and Simon Kassianides. According to Den of Geek, at Marvel Television panel at San Diego Comic Con, producers Jeph Loeb and Jeffrey Bell revealed that there are "four new characters familiar to fans of the comics are on the way."

The report notes that Bobbi Morse aka Mockingbird will be introduced in the small screen version of Marvel's show. He is reportedly a character "who has some history with Hawkeye."

Another character to be introduced in the second installment of the show is Nick Blood's Lance Hunter. He will be an ally to the agents, who will begin the work of rebuilding corruption-free S.H.I.E.L.D. in season 2.

As for the villain, it is reported that Daniel Whitehall aka The Kraken will challenge the agents. The character that will be played by Reed Diamond is a "serious business HYDRA operative," as described by Den of Geek.

Lucy Lawless has been confirmed to play the role Isabel Hartly, the report states. She is reportedly a "long time S.H.I.L.D. veteran."

Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 2 Plot: Grant Ward's Future

"Marvel's Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D." Season 1 took a dramatic turn when Agent Grant Ward revealed himself as a traitor. His betrayal to the team led to the events that left S.H.I.E.L.D. scattered. However, fans are eager to know what lies ahead for Brett Dalton's character. According to TV Guide's spoilers, Grant Ward continues to "play a big role in Season 2- as will Hydra." Executive Maurissa Tancharoen told the publication that in the upcoming season Grant Ward is in the "custody and alone" so it means that he "continues to discover what he wants."

Meanwhile, fans know that many main cast members will make a return to "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." including Clark Gregg (Phil Coulson), who is now the director of the organization. The show returns with its season 2 on Sept. 23, 2014 on ABC.
