Following all the tumultuous events that Phil Coulson underwent in the past, he will emerge as a "very different Coulson than the guy everyone knew," revealed the actor while speaking to the publication.
"A lot of people who knew him in the old days say, 'He's different.' I think you would have to be different having gone through that stuff," Gregg elaborated on his character's role in the second installment.
According to him, Phil Coulson is "reinventing and re-understanding himself as a person." This, he explains, is an important process so that he can adapt to the "new environment and figure out what S.H.I.E.L.D. ought to be..."
As for the show's storyline, the actor says "so we go from having no SHIELD at all, with a director on the run, to a tiny Guerrilla SHIELD with Agent Coulson at its head, and maybe not in his own right head."
