'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' season 4 episode 15 spoilers: Chaos ensues from within; agents get replaced by LMDs in ‘Self Control’
Original air date on ABC: Feb. 21
In the previous week, “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” began with Coulson (Clark Gregg) and Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennet) sparring at a gym. When Daisy kicked Coulson backward and he froze in mid air, it turned out to be a training session. Coulson was inside Radcliffe’s (John Hannah) framework, or an older version of it. Although it had been earlier revealed to contain Radcliffe’s LMD captives, it was originally designed to be a part of SHIELD’s program. Coulson even said that it is so realistic that he could smell sweat and feel pain.
However, there is not that much time for training as Coulson later on noticed that Mace’s (Jason O’Mara) super suit has been tracked. They found it lying by itself in the middle of an abandoned base in Alaska -- and it is not the only thing that was there. Coulson also came face to face with the Carcosa conspiracy wall which the Superior had made in his image. He realized the extent of Ivanov’s obsession with him. He blurts out that such is the exact reason why he does not use Facebook.

Mace was found where fans might have expected him to be -- a ll bloodied and chained to a wall just as Ivanov continues to torture him to the end. Just when he was about to be done, he asked Mace if he had any last regrets. Mace responded that he still believes in Coulson and SHIELD because they have been trying to do the right thing.
Ivanov seemed to have lost all traces of humanity. The Superior admird s Mace for sticking to his beliefs and cuts his bonds to give him a better chance against the henchmen who barge d in to beat him up. The team arrived later and saved him.
This previous episode also ended with quite a cliffhanger when after returning to home base after their latest mission, Fitz (Iain de Caestecker) and Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) found out that someone had tampe red with the LMD director. Once they go t it to work again, they learn ed that Mack (Henry Simmons), Coulson, Daisy and Mace have been replaced with LMDs.
The official Youtube promo for this episode , titled “Self Control,” teases how chaos will ensue from within when the agents get replaced by LMDs. Trust issues have always been there since true to life copies of real people started roaming their environment. This holds particularly true for Coulson when he was on the verge of falling in love with an LMD copy. This has resulted in a lot of trust issues and it looks like things are about to get even worse when this episode airs.
“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. on ABC. In Australia, it airs on SyFy.
