Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel should play Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in the Fifty Shades of Grey movie adaptation of E.L. James' erotic fiction series, according to fans. An online petition has so far gathered nearly 25,000 virtual signatures to express dismay over the casting of Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson.

"We want Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele on 50 Shades," says this online petition. It is not, however, likely for Focus Features and Universal Pictures to recast the two controversial lead roles.

Alexis Bledel had earlier commented on how she's frequently leading the casting polls. But she remained neutral, telling ELLE, "When people really identify with a concept, they feel strongly about it." But Bledel, who turns 32 on Sept. 16 is a bit too old for the Anastasia role, others argued. For his part, White Collar's Matt Bomer was always careful in not insinuating or denying interest in the Christian Grey role. Matt, who turns 36 in October, would be 40-41 by the time the Fifty Shades of Grey movie trilogy concludes in the theatres. The fictional Grey, however, is under 30 when the series kicks off. On Twitter, not everyone is keen on seeing Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel on the Fifty Shades movie. Here's a tweet from Carina MacKenzie, who was reported to be a part of "The Originals" writing team. She has also expressed fondness for Charlie Hunnam, but re-tweeted POV on "sad news" that Hunnam's acting on "mommy porn."

Matt Bomer has been in and out of Twitter's top trending topics since E.L. James announced that Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson are starring in the Fifty Shades of Grey film. #NoBomerNoMovie was a trending hashtag for a while.
