Matt Bomer: 'White Collar' Actor Cast as Montgomery Clift in Upcoming Biopic Film [PHOTOS]
Even though Matt Bomer did not grab the role of Christian Grey in the "Fifty Shades of Grey" film, fans can still watch the "White Collar" actor on the big screen as legendary actor Montgomery Clift in the upcoming biopic film. Representatives of Mr Bomer confirmed the casting news to Entertainment Tonight.
Actor Matt Bomer, 35, will begin filming the Montgomery Clift biopic film in 2014 where he will take on a very different film role that goes back to the 1950s. According to the Celebrity Café report, the film will have the simple title of "Monty Clift" where the story centers on Mr Clift's relationship with actress Elizabeth Taylor and their work in the 1951 film "A Place In The Sun."
Monty Clift and Liz Taylor never became an official couple but they were very close with each other. No official announcement has been made yet on the actress who will portray the role of Ms Taylor. The Deadline report claims Pier 3 Pictures' Michael Din, Janine Giaime and Juri Henley-Cohn will finance the upcoming Indie film with Christopher Lovick who wrote the script and Larry Moss to direct.
Mr Clift became a Hollywood superstar in the 1950s after starting out on Broadway back in 1935. His work in the film "From Here To Eternity" earned him an Oscar nomination.
However, Montgomery Clift's further rise to success was unfortunately cut short when he got involved in a horrifying car accident that left his face permanently scarred with a broken jaw and nose. The actor became addicted to pain medication and alcohol which made acting coach Robert Lewis describe Mr Clift's ordeal as "the longest suicide in Hollywood history."
Though Mr Clift never fully recovered from the tragedy of the car accident, he still continued to make films like Marilyn Monroe's "The Misfits" and Stanley Kramer's "Judgement at Nuremberg." Furthermore, Monty Clift was set to co-star with good friend Elizabeth Taylor in "Reflections In A Golden Eye" but the actor died at the age of 45 before filming began in 1966.
Matt Bomer is expected to pull off this new major film character as a level up to his supporting roles in films such as "In Time" and "Magic Mike." Mr Bomer is currently busy working on his hit USA Network series "White Collar" Season 5 and the Ryan Murphy HBO drama movie "The Normal Heart."
