While others probably used fresh, clean water for the "ALS Ice Bucket Challenge," Matt Damon, on the other hand, opted to drench himself with toilet water, which had him receiving praises from his fans.

According to Telegraph UK, the "Bourne Ultimatum" actor scooped out water from all the toilets in his family home for the challenge. He carefully placed them in a bucket containing ice. As seen on the video below, the actor claimed he was nominated by his childhood friend, fellow actor and "Batman" star Ben Affleck to the challenge. TV show host and comedian Jimmy Kimmel also dared him.

But why use toilet water? Instead of just participating in the challenge, Matt Damon took the opportunity to also plug in another cause in his video. According to the site, he also took the chance to raise awareness for Water.Org.

Matt Damon is the co-founder of Water.Org. Its mission is to raise awareness of the poor sanitation problems and lack of clean water supply to some other areas in the world. As co-founder, the site claims it is Matt's mission to educate and inform people that over 800 million people from around the world do not have the luxury of having clean water.

From his statement in the video, also posted by Telegraph online, Matt Damon said the "ALS Ice Bucket Challenge" posed a challenge for him "not only because there is a drought in California."

"But also I co-founded Water.org and we envision a day when everybody has access to clean drinking water... so putting a clean bucket of water on my head seemed a little crazy," he said in the video.

The actor also claimed that his wife thinks toilet water is disgusting. But instead of going for a different source, the actor instead shared some piece of information about his preferred choice of water for the challenge.

"Keep in mind that the water in our toilets in the west is actually cleaner than the water that most people in the developing world has access to," he said.

According to US Weekly, Matt Damon is not the only actor who used the viral challenge to also raise awareness for another cause. Leonardo DiCaprio reportedly also talked about the "Canadian tar sands" in his "ALS Ice Bucket Challenge" video taken from Lake Athabasca.

Apparently, Matt Damon's video has caught the attention of Twitter fans where some posted their praises for their idol online.
