Being part of this particular boxing family, it’s not surprising that Jeff Mayweather thinks that Manny Pacquiao is past his prime.

The uncle of five-division champ Floyd Jr. and brother of former welterweight titlist Floyd Sr. observed that Pacquiao will not be as dangerous as before when he faces Timothy Bradley on April 12, 2014.

“To be honest, he’s not even close to that fighter anymore. It shows. When was the last time he knocked out anyone? It also seems like his killer instinct is gone. He’s not the same fighter,” said Mayweather to Chris Robinson of Examiner.com.

While bias could be in his bones when shared that opinion, the recent record of the Filipino backs his claim.

The “Pac Man” has lost two of his last three fights with one coming via a controversial split decision loss to Bradley in June of 2012. The other defeat came against Juan Manuel Marquez, who floored Pacquiao in December also that year.

Pacquiao is coming off an expected easy victory over Brandon Rios in Macau in November of 2013. But that came via a 12-round unanimous decision.

The last time Pacquiao won via a stoppage was on November 11, 2009 against Miguel Cotto with the World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title at stake.

With a probable slip in Pacquiao’s mind set and overall skill, Mayweather said that Bradley may take advantage come the April bout.

“I think that it’s going to be a good fight. I think that Bradley has shown himself to become a much better fighter. In all honesty I thought he lost first fight big. But since then, he’s shown that he’s gotten better and better in each fight. Pacquiao has just been knocked out as well. I expect it to be a good fight. Probably a lot closer than it was last time.”

Still the former boxer and now a boxing trainer said that Pacquiao is still the slight favourite to win against the American.

“At this point, I guess I still got to learn towards Pacquiao. He won the fight too big to not get the decision. I still think Bradley is going to give a great performance but I won’t be surprised if he pulls off the upset.”
