Megan Young Responds to 'Filthy Maid' Comment: She Only Wishes Dediva 'The Best'

Miss World 2013 Megan Young ultimately responded to the derogatory remarks made by Facebook user Devina DeDiva, which triggered online uproar early this month.

Young, who arrived in Manila on Thursday crowned Miss World 2013, said she only wishes DeDiva "the best."

"I wish her the best... Pagdating sa ganyang tipo ng bagay, hindi ko na lang po pinapansin dahil hindi naman 'yun dapat pinapansin," she said in an interview with radio DZMM's Zhander Cayabyab .

Screenshots of DeDiva's alleged comments about Young and Filipinos triggered online outrage on social networking sites early this month.

"Miss Philippines is Miss World? What a joke! I did not know those maids have anything else in them," Dediva posted on Facebook.

"They are mostly filthy maids and will only be of that status. End of story," she added.

The words "Devina DeDiva" then became the No. 1 trending subject matter not only in the Philippines but around the globe on social media as several Filipino Internet users reacted to her comments.

In spiteful spirit lots of Filipino netizens reacted and one Facebook "hate page" has been created and some have also uploaded hate videos on YouTube. DeDiva is written off as as "Miss Racism 2013," according to many people around the globe.

DeDiva has since deactivated her Facebook page and after some time she reportedly has apologized to Megan Young and Filipinos via her new twitter account:

Cory Quirino the national director of Miss World Philippines, the local organizer of the pageant, only expressed humility for Young as she was asked for comment on the matter.

"The honor is not only Megan's but the Philippines," Cory Quirino said in a statement she earlier sent to ABS-CBN News.

"We have made history and have proven once and for all that the Filipina is the most beautiful woman in the world! Mabuhay ang Pilipinas," she continued.
