Meghan Markle attends first public event with Prince Harry; couple share sweet kiss

Ever since Prince Harry officially confirmed dating American actress Meghan Markle, the public has kept a close eye on the developments of their relationship. The couple just recently made their first public appearance and made certain that everyone knew just how serious and in love they are.

On Saturday, Harry took part of the Audi Polo Challenge at Coworth Park Polo Club. The royal was, a noted by Today, there to play for his charities, Sentebale and WellChild. Sentebale offers support for orphans and other vulnerable children by providing education and psychosocial support. Meanwhile, WellChild focuses primarily on providing aid for ill children.

While Harry was busy with the polo match, the 35-year-old actress was cheering him comfortably from the Royal Box. She wore a navy dress, white blazer and sunglasses. Before the game began, the couple shared a sweet and brief kiss away from prying eyes, Nine reported.

Meghan was joined by Mark Dwyer, a former welsh Guards officer and one-time equerry to the Prince of Wales, and his wife. Dwyer has been described as “Harry’s second father.” No one had expected Meghan to attend the events, so it was a welcome surprise to see her there. Attendees noted how happy she looked and how much she was laughing.

On Sunday, Harry again joined the competition, this time with his older brother Prince William. Meghan, however, was no longer in attendance on the second day. Other actors that made an appearance were Eddy Redmayne, Emma Stone and Matt Smith.

The polo match was the first official public appearance of Harry and Meghan as a couple. This does not mean, however, that the two have not been seen together before. Harry has been introducing Meghan to his friends and even brought her to one of their weddings in Jamaica. Furthermore, the couple has been going on vacations together, including a Christmas holiday to Norway.

Harry and Meghan are even expected to attend Pippa Middleton’s wedding to hedge-fund manager James Matthews on May 20. Some reports have claimed that the polo match was a strategic move in the part of the new couple. The early and surprise public appearance is likely to draw enough attention that the media’s attention will not be solely on Harry and Meghan during Pippa’s wedding.
