Meghan Markle reportedly told to lie about age over fears of rejection
Prince Harry’s bride-to-be Meghan Markle was reportedly “pressured” to lie about her age so she could secure better acting jobs. Agents wanted her to lie during auditions over fears she would be rejected by producers once she passed the age of 30.
Not that the American actress was not confident about her age and wanted to lie about it. She had always been told to fib. She was told not to say her age over supposed fears of instant rejection.
In a 2015 interview, Markle said that as female actors, the “industry can assume they have a shelf life.” She was then 33 years old and was comfortable with her age. If some people have issues with it, that is their problem, she said.
The now 36-year-old will marry Harry in May. Before she became a prince’s fiancé, a director demanded cheesecake if she wanted to get a part she was auditioning for, painting a picture of how male movie bosses use their powers over young actors. The Sun reports that it happened during an audition for a film.
Markle supposedly spent her last money on cheesecake. However, she did not get the part.
It was not all glitz and glamour for Harry’s future wife. According to the Mirror, Markle’s first job was in a frozen yoghurt store. She was 13 years old. Her role included serving customers and cleaning bins; there, she earned minimum wage. She was said to be very popular with customers.
Markle went through some low-key obs before landing her role as Rachel in American television series “Suits.” She was part of “Deal or No Deal” as a “briefcase girl” and had roles in films “Get Him to the Greek,” “Horrible Bosses” and “Remember Me.”
Harry and Markle recently announced their engagement, followed by further details about their wedding. Kensington Palace announced that the couple will marry on May 19 at the St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle.
It was earlier relieved that Markle will become a British citizen. She must be baptised and confirmed before the religious ceremony.
The pair met in 2016 after they were introduced through friends. They made their first public appearance together at the Invictus Games in September.
