Mel Gibson "furious" due to replacement by Liam Neeson in "The Hangover" sequel
Hollywood actor Mel Gibson is reportedly "furious" with producers of The Hangover sequel. Gibson was cast and then subsequently replaced by Liam Neeson for a cameo for the new film.
New York Post Page Six quotes an insider as saying: "He doesn't understand why Mike Tyson, a drug user [and convicted rapist, as EW.com points out] who turned his life around, was given a chance while Mel was kicked to the curb. Everybody deserves a second chance."
Mel Gibson was allegedly booted out after cast of The Hangover protested his casting. Liam Neeson replaced Gibson. In a statement, representative for Liam Neeson treated the controversy lightly, saying that Neeson would join the Hangover 2 cast "pending clearance of cast and crew background check."
The 2009 film The Hangover was directed by Todd Phillips, who will return to direct the sequel. The film features Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, Heather Graham, Justin Bartha and Jeffrey Tambor. The plot focuses on four friends who travel to Las Vegas for a bachelor party, only to wake up the next morning not remembering a thing and missing the groom, whose wedding is scheduled to occur the next day.
