A brand new building in London called the Walkie-Talkie has been deemed as the culprit behind the melted Jaguar owned by Martin Lindsay parked nearby.

According to Mr Lindsay when he came back just after two hours, he found his most precious vehicle with melted badge, mirror and other parts. The owner himself was shocked with what happened that the glare from the building caused. The developers of the skyscraper have already sent out their apologies by handling all the repair costs of the Jaguar that reached about $1,400.

So How Did It Happen?

Chris Shepherd from the Institute of Physics shared with BBC that it is basically the reflection of the building. The light it gathered from its flat windows all focusing at one central point acted like mirrors and eventually heated up. It was directed in just one solid beam since it came from a glass surface which, according to science theories that compared to other surfaces, glass reflects about a hundred per cent of the light.

On the other hand, John Frederick from the University of Chicago shared with PopularScience.com that the car melted due to two sources: the direct sunlight from the sky and the other light is the one reflected from the glass building.

Kheir Al-Kodmany from University of Illinois in Chicago added that the designers of the Walkie Talkie scraper could have been more aware of the intense amount of heat that its curve styles can give off. However, its developers claim that the melting incident will only happen in just a couple of weeks. But it cannot be denied that what happened served as 'bad press.'

As action plan, the city of London has placed a line to keep people from parking their vehicles on the three spaces right around the deadly rays emitted from the Walkie Talkie skyscraper.
