Mementos of White House Intern Monica Lewinsky on Auction; Excludes Blue Dress That Had Former President Bill Clinton’s Semen Stain After Oral Sex (VIDEOS & PHOTOS)
The White House sex scandal that almost destroyed the political career of then President Bill Clinton is back in the limelight because of the auction of the mementos that belong to former White House intern Monica Lewinsky.
Ms Lewinsky, now 39 and based in Great Britain to avoid the spotlight, was notorious for the oral sex which she had with the president right in the White House. In one of their trysts in February 1997, after performing fellatio on Mr Clinton, his semen accidentally stained a blue Gap dress that the intern wore that day.
However, that infamous dress is not part of the 30 plus items examined by federal investigator Kenneth Star as he gathered evidence used for the impeachment case against Mr Clinton.
The items for auction, which includes a negligee, White House keepsakes and more clothing, could be found listed on the Web site of Nate D Sanders (http://natedsanders.com/) which features a wide range of celebrity items ranging from Russel Crowe's Gladiator costume to Heath Ledger's clothes the late actor wore on-screen.
Bidding for Ms Lewinsky's negligee starts at $2,500. The auction for the 32 items ends June 27.
Ms Lewinsky gave the items to her former high school teacher, Andy Bleiler, who has also been romantically linked with the former White House intern. It includes 11 greeting cards that Mr Lewinsky gave to Mr Bleiler. One proof of their relationship is a Valentine's Day Card with the following message: "Dear Andy, Happy Valentine's Day! I hope this day is filled with lots of love, hugs, n' kisses!!! I miss you! Xoxoxo Monica."
The lot include a signed letter from Mr Clinton dated Feb 20, 1996 sent to Mr Bleiler on his birthday upon the request of Ms Lewinsky.
The items are being disposed by Kate Nason, the ex-wife of Mr Bleiler, who now possesses the mementos.
The blue dress is not in Ms Nason's hands because Ms Lewinsky turned it over to investigators in July 1998 after she signed an immunity agreement. A blood sample taken from the president on Aug that year confirmed that it was Mr Clinton's semen stain on the dress which she initially gave to her mother.
She initially thought of having the dress washed to remove the semen stain, but was aware that it is destruction of evidence.
Mr Clinton was acquitted of the impeachment charges on Feb 12, 1999, while Ms Lewinsky initially put out a handbag line bearing her name, became the spokesperson for a diet plan then a TV personality and obtained a degree in psychology in London where she now lives.
