You will experience losing focus and feeling tired at the office every now and then. That's normal. All that matters is you know how to deal with it.

It is essential that you practice a few mental exercises that will stimulate your brain and encourage you not to fall asleep or lose attention. These mental exercises are very easy to do and will require only a few minutes of your time.

1. Handwriting work

Medical Daily said that writing by hand will help sharpen your mind and help you regain focus. You will be required to make strokes with your hand instead of pushing buttons or typing keys, which will activate particular parts of the brain responsible for language and memory. When you write, you also encourage your mind to work harder by looking for the right words, at the same time, concentrating on the letters and words on the paper.

2. Play music

Music is very effective in helping you concentrate better. Music was found to be effective in improving memory, learning and coordination skills among individuals. You can take a break by playing an instrument in your office for a few minutes or play music that will help your body release the neurotransmitter dopamine, which is responsible for improving mood and regaining focus.

3. Rest

Taking a nap for 15 to 20 minutes and staying hydrated will ensure that you stay alert at the office. Drink a glass of water every hour to have enough water supply in your brain. Napping will also improve focus, memory and communication skills significantly and you will find that you can accomplish more as well as feel more enthusiastic about work after a nap.

4. Take a walk

Cardiovascular exercise will help improve blood circulation throughout your body, particularly your brain. Mental Health reported that exercising for a brief period during your break time such as stretching or taking a walk for 10 to 20 minutes will significantly improve brain function and mental focus.

5. Talk to someone

Communicating with your coworkers will also help relieve boredom as well as stimulate your brain. Bounce off your ideas to another in the office and increase productivity together.

Use these mental exercises on a daily basis and discover how you can boost efficiency in the workplace. Working hard means working smart.
