The Mentalist Season 5 returns Sunday on U.S. television as viewers wait for what Red John would do next after killing the best piece of the puzzle that Patrick Jane has ever come across. Teresa Lisbon has a fresh doze of RJ madness, and she is worried Jane would spiral out of control again. (Jisbon shippers are worried, too.) If you've seen last week's episode, you'd get why this could be yet another important episode on the CBI-RJ chase.

Episode 17: "Red, White and Blue" unravels the murder of a woman in uniform and touches upon sexual harassment against women in the military. The Mentalist, Patrick Jane, helps a witness with severe memory problem remember what happened at the crime scene before the 911 call was made. And as usual, Jane succeeds. But in the previous episode, Jane has to desperately try to keep another witness alive. His name is Jason Lennon, and he is Jane's latest link to Red John.

The Mentalist (Episode 18: "Behind the Red Curtain") continues this week with Lennon in coma. Lorelei Martins shot him before fleeing. At this point, Martins could have just revealed to Jane who Red John is. But then again, she has just learned that Red John had in fact murdered her sister. So naturally, as far as she is concerned, she should kill Red John. So Lorelei went greedy on the intel and left Jane to pump Lennon's chest until the medics arrive. Later, Martins was found dead. The Red John smiley was at the crime scene. Lorelei Martins never had a chance. Jane was obviously distraught by her demise, but he wouldn't show it. Instead, he told Lisbon, "She had it coming."

If Lorelei had told Jane who Red John is, "The Mentalist" himself would have gone all the way to help her avenge her sister's death. But maybe Lorelei also wanted to keep Jane safe for as long as she could -- in the short life she had. Apart from the Jane-Lorelei scenes, what viewers saw in this episode was a very upset Teresa Lisbon. She had to hear from Jane that he had feelings for Lorelei. But maybe she only wanted Jane to be completely honest with her. (Jisbon shippers could have pricked some very jealous vibes off the screen.)

Now Lennon is in coma, and Jane is deeply troubled. How close is Jane to catching Red John? Bob Kirkland of Homeland is expected to meddle with CBI business this week. If Kirkland is RJ himself, or an RJ accomplice, then Jane is very close to catching the man who murdered his wife and little girl. Fans, sit back and enjoy this episode. "The Mentalist" will take another short break after this. The next Mentalist episode, "Red Letter Day," (Episode 19) will air on April 14.
