"The Mentalist" Season 6 premiere date is on Sept. 29 (Sunday). Red John and Simon Baker's Patrick Jane are bringing their A game. But when the new season kicks off, Jane will not be at his best -- yet. Teresa Lisbon (Robin Tunney) decides to help -- by spilling the 7 suspects to someone she trusts! This is only one of the reasons why Simon said, "This year's exciting."

Spoiler Alert: This feature contains spoilers that may ruin some surprises in The Mentalist Season 6. Read at your own risk.

The Mentalist series creator Bruno Heller has confirmed Jane's 7 suspects are legit. One of them is really Red John. The question is, how many of them are accomplices? Spoilers say viewers will strike one suspect off the list after watching the season premiere.

When the 2012 season ended, Patrick Jane realises how far ahead Red John is in their chase. Sean Barlow (Michael Hogan) asks him, "Has it never occurred to you to ask exactly how Red John is always one step ahead of you?" This drained Jane so much, that he'd be questioning himself at the beginning of The Mentalist Season 6. Libon says Jane has become "paranoid, understandably."

Barlow is an old acquaintance to Patrick Jane. He appears in The Mentalist Season 5 finale, and he's instrumental to officially confirming in the show (and for Jisbon fans) that Lisbon is in-love with Patrick Jane. "Red John's got powers, real psychic powers that you refuse to believe in," Barlow says.

"I'm going to start killing again, often, until you catch me, or I catch you," Red John tells Patrick through Lorelei Martins (Emmanuelle Chriqui) in a video recording.

"We'll know who Red John is, probably by the end of the calendar year," Simon Baker says in a CBS promo video. (Scroll down to watch a YouTube of the sneak peek and cast interviews.)

Jane's 7 Red John suspects are: Bret Stiles, Gale Bertram, Raymond Haffner, Reede Smith, Bob Kirkland, Sheriff McAllister, and Brett Partridge. Follow this link for more The Mentalist Season 6 spoilers.

In one of CBS' promo videos, Lisbon is seen telling Grace Van Pelt (Amanda Righetti) about Jane's "situation" and his 7 Red John suspects. Reports say Righetti and Owain Yeoman are leaving The Mentalist. This sneak peek development and the pair's exit may or may not be related. Kimball Cho (Tim Kang) is also expected to be deeply involved in the hunt for Red John.

"If you missed an episode, you may miss a lot of twists and turns," Jane tells The Mentalist viewers. It is best to take his word, as Heller and the writers often scatter clues throughout one episode. The clues have later been linked by puzzle solvers as the seasons progressed. But all the clues so far have yet to make sense.

The Mentalist is one of the shows that will be fast-tracked for Australian viewers. The CBS show will air on Nine, along with "The Big Bang Theory," "Person of Interest" and "2 Broke Girls."
