"The day of reckoning is coming," says the sneak preview of "The Mentalist" Season 6, Episode 6. In "Fire and Brimstone," Patrick Jane gathers all five Red John suspects in one room. And an explosion throws off Teresa Lisbon from a cabin - presumably where Jane and his suspects are gathered. Series creator Bruno Heller promised the capture of the red villain this season, and it seems the moment is near.

The Mentalist Season 6 Review: The Red John Case, So Far

Here's a quick recap of the recent developments on CBI's Red John case in The Mentalist Season 6: Teresa Lisbon (Robin Tunney) saw the death of Brett Partridge (Jack Plotnick). Reede Smith (Drew Powell) killed Bob Kirkland (Kevin Corrigan). Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) has narrowed down his Red John suspects from seven to five. And he's recently learned that the crimson monster has a 3-dot tattoo on his shoulder.

Red John Clues, Puzzle Pieces for Patrick Jane and the CBI

Tiger, Tiger / Burning bright / In the forest of the night / What immortal hand or eye / Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

"The Tiger" by the English poet William Blake speaks of something ferocious and familiar about something horribly dark. The Mentalist fans have discussed its possible meaning in the show's context, since Kristina Frye (Leslie Hope) was kidnapped in The Mentalist Season 2 finale ("Red Sky in the Morning," May 20, 2010). Forward to three and a half years later, the quote remains a mysterious Red John clue.

Through his psychiatrist Sophie Miller (Elisabeth Röhm), Patrick Jane learned Red John is middle-aged (probably not Malcolm McDowell's Bret Stiles or Xander Berkeley's Thomas McAllister). Through Rosalind Harker (Alicia Witt), Jane gathered that RJ is nearly six feet tall, and of average built (probably not Reede). The "Best Red John Clue Award" goes to Kira Tinsley (Beth Riesgraf), however short her guest appearance had been. Kira told Jane about Red John's shoulder tattoo in the Oct. 27 episode, "The Red Tattoo."

Other general Red John descriptions hint the supervillain can work his charm and has some followers (probably not anyone - except Bret Stiles). There are bits here and there, but even Patrick Jane is not ready to officially eliminate anyone - until he sees their shoulders, perhaps.

The Mentalist Season 6: An explosive reveal in 'Fire and Brimstone'

From the sneak preview of the CBS procedural, it seems Patrick Jane will set up a cabin explosion that will send everyone to the hospital - or the morgue. (Is this his way of baring his suspects' shoulders without being awkward?)

Fire and brimstone (sulphur) relates to wrath, particularly God's wrath, straight from the bible. It is the ultimate cleaning up act, the day of reckoning. All clues point to Patrick Jane being ready for his doom, as long as he drops dead with Red John. And so he's said an emotional goodbye to Teresa in the preview.

The Mentalist Season 6, Episode 6 should not be missed. "Fire and Brimstone" is likely to go down in history as the series' most unforgettable episode.
