"The Mentalist" Season 6 has moved from the Red John hunt. Big changes in Patrick Jane's world have happened in the last 2013 episodes of the series. Is it time for a series ending? Spoiler alert for those who have not seen any current season episode.

Spoiler alert: This feature contains spoilers for those who have not seen The Mentalist Season 6, Episodes 1 to 10. This CBS crime drama series is on hiatus, but it returns soon - Jan. 5, 2014.

The Mentalist Season 6 has changed a lot of things in the series in 2013. Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) is now with the FBI. Teresa Lisbon (Robin Tunney) is officially joining him at the Feds, too. But Kimball Cho (Tim Kang) beat them up for being the first to get officially hired. Newly married Grace Van Pelt (Amanda Righetti) and Wayne Rigsby (Owain Yeoman) are now in a different world.

Dennis Abbott (Rockmond Dunbar) and Emily Swallow (Kim Fischer) get introduced as new series regular. Finally, Napa County Sheriff Thomas McAllister (Xander Berkeley) has been revealed to be the real Red John. Come 2014, The Mentalist Season 6 is Red John-free, or at least the episode titles are.

"My Blue Heaven" and "Green Thumb" are the last 2013 episodes of The Mentalist Season 6. Both episodes tackle Jane's deal with the FBI, and ends with another major trick up his sleeve. Jane is taking the entire FBI on a ruse. Abbott thinks he's got leverage, but Jane is simply playing another "mentalist game."

Many fans are discussing on TV forum sites that it may be time for series creator Bruno Heller to conclude the series. The series had been about Red John for so long, and watching Jane post-RJ does not make him as interesting as he was before. Robin Tunney, however, has a different view.

"I don't think people watch the show because they want to know who Red John is. They watch the show because they enjoy watching Patrick Jane solve crimes in the way that he does. When the show's at its finest, it does have a sense of humor about it," Tunney tells zaptoit.com.

The Mentalist Season 6, Episode 11, "White Lines," airs on Jan. 5 on CBS. The TV.com episode synopsis goes: "When several DEA agents are murdered, the FBI is assigned to find the killer, which sends Jane on a date with a gorgeous woman linked to the case."
