Michael Fassbender to Star in 'Assassin's Creed'?
After "X-Men: First Class" and "Shame", Michael Fassbender is really rolling in the Benjamins with different roles coming his way. This includes the lead character for the silver screen adaptation of one of the more popular games today, Assassin's Creed.
"Michael Fassbender will star in and co-produce "Assassin's Creed," the big screen adaptation of Ubisoft's videogame franchise, through his DMC Film banner." reports Variety about the good news of the "Prometheus" star taking the role of producer and taking on the role of the lead character.
Michael Fassbender has been around for quite some time now, already appearing in the effects-heavy action film "300" as well as in Quentin Tarantino's "Inglorious Basterds" alongside Brad Pitt. He did gain more screen time after playing the superhero Magneto in "X-Men: First Class" back in 2011. He gained respect from the critics and the fans after appearing in "Shame" which garnered him a hand-full of awards and countless nominations.
Fassbender's co-producer is Conor McCaughan, and this is not their first project together; they have previously worked as co-producers as well on the short "Pitch Black Heist". It is also a good thing to know that Ubisoft already had Fassbender as their first choice for the role.
"Michael Fassbender was our first choice" to play the franchise's iconic hooded hero, said Jean-Julien Baronnet, CEO of Paris-based Ubisoft Motion Pictures. "Michael (Fassbender) is an extremely smart, talented, versatile and committed actor." reports Variety about the talented actor and his past roles.
