Michael Jackson's Death: AEG claims no hands in Dr. Murray's hiring
In the most recent development on Michael Jackson's death, producers of his supposedly last show came under fire after the King of Pop's mother pressed charges against them. Now, AEG is fighting back, with claims that it has nothing to do with the hiring or supervision of Dr. Conrad Murray.
Katherine Jackson's lawsuit alleged that Dr. Murray was contracted by AEG and was under pressure to ensure that the Michael Jackson will appear at the concerts, without regard to the pop icon's health. Dr. Murray administrated painkillers and sedatives to the singer which according to subsequent autopsy is the cause of Michael Jackson's death.
In a statement, AEG called the Michael Jackson's mother's lawsuit against them as "inaccurate, unsubstantiated and meritless."
"Dr. Murray was Mr. Jackson's longtime personal physician. AEG did not choose him, hire him or supervise him," said AEG explaining their relationship with Dr. Murray.
"That said, and in honor of our professional relationship with Mr. Jackson and his Estate, we will have no further public statements."
However, while it is true that it was Michael Jackson and not AEG who chose Dr. Murray, Katherine Jackson further claimed that AEG was negligent because they neglected to check on Murray's credentials.
Katherine also asserted that AEG pushed Michael Jackson too hard during rehearsals, claiming that AEG chief executive would come at Jackson's home whenever the pop star misses practice.
