Michael Schumacher Rehabilitation Update: F1 Legend Shows Progress According to Wife
A number of medical specialists has uttered weighty qualms about the probabilities of Michael Schumacher making a complete recovery from the brain trauma he agonised during a skiing accident in December, but fans of the racing legend will be very delighted to hear the news that their icon is "improving slowly." Michael's wife, Corinna, has conveyed an inspiring news about her husband's current condition.
"We are moving uphill, slowly of course, but at least, we are making progress," Corinna told German tabloid Neue Post during her first public appearance at a horse-riding event she hosted on her ranch.
It was recently confirmed that Michael has emerged from coma and transferred to a medical facility in Lausanne, Switzerland for continued rehabilitation. Corinna's recent statement indeed delivered an encouraging message for all the supporters of the retired German racer.
Brain trauma expert Tony Belli told BBC Radio live's Victoria Derbyshire that Michael will still have to journey a long road towards full recovery. According to Mr. Belli, three months after Michael's skiing crash, it was inevitable that the 45-year-old German will survive the "acute stage of his injury." Due to the seriousness of the injury that Michael has suffered, it was almost certain that the recovery from coma was not going to take place in the shortest time possible. Now that Michael has woken up from coma, the rehabilitation is expected to take a long time, Mr. Belli uttered.
"It could be months, but it could also be years."
"We know that some people spend three or four years in rehabilitation even depends on the severity of the injury, how well or how young or how fit they are, but there is really no set period for rehabilitation."
Meanwhile, a silent prayer movement for Michael is about to take place on July 28 in Budapest, Hungary. The organisers of Velvet Evolution hopes to create an intercessory prayer meeting for Michael's faster healing and complete recovery.
