U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama did not even imagine that she would one day face a worm while performing White House duties. Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who was beside her, did not also expect it to happen.

She participated in harvest at the Iron Street Urban Farm, which grows a large number of fresh produce yearly at the south side area of Chicago, her hometown.

A worker handed a wriggling creature to her and Mrs Obama was shocked. The First Lady shouted, "It's alive!" while holding the worm with her hand. The first lady, who wore a cream and black sweater with stripes and a beautiful bow, visited Chicago and Detroit as part of the Democrat fundraising campaign for President Barack Obama.

Mrs Obama also talked to mayors of big cities to help bring more fresh produce to neighbourhoods as part of the Let's Move campaign which aims to battle childhood obesity.

Mrs Obama and the mayor visited basic grocery stores and staples in Walgreens on the south side in a run-up to the campaign this summer.

President Obama, who supports the campaign against childhood obesity, was quoted to have said, "Parents cannot give their kids nutritious meals if there are no stores and groceries nearby selling fresh and healthy foods."

If nearby groceries and stores would sell fresh fruits and veggies, it will be easier for parents to make their kids eat healthy meals, which would make the children strong and immune to many forms of health problems, the president explained.
