Microsoft Australia has appointed Michael Gration as director of public sector group in Australia. Gration takes responsibility for sales and marketing of all levels of government accounts which includes defence, education and health.

Microsoft said Gration previously held the position of director for Health and Human Services, Microsoft Australia and therefore brings “immediate expertise” to the new role.

Gration takes over from Pip Marlow who was recently appointed managing director of Microsoft Australia.

“Michael’s positive impact as Health sector lead and the excellent results he achieved make him a natural fit for this role. I look forward to working closely with Michael as he adds his passion for our customers, partners and people to the senior leadership team at Microsoft Australia,” said Marlow.

Gration joined Microsoft in 2006 as public sector director federal and was instrumental in continuing to drive the strong relationships in that sector and enhancing the partner relationships in Canberra.

Microsoft said “he brings over 20 years of experience in both local and international business integration within the Federal market leading the growth of a number of major indigenous companies during this period and continues that strong interest in local business.”

“This new role brings an exciting opportunity for me professionally, since it enables me to widen my engagement with all levels of government, from health reforms to educational IT initiatives,” said Gration.
