The 'Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers' Back in Action - Your Favorite Power Rangers Profiles
Another childhood memory revisited. "It's Morphin' time" again for the Power Rangers as they will be back in a live-action film expected in the next few years (they better make it soon).
"Lionsgate" and "Saban Brands," announced that they will be producing the Power Rangers for the big screens, in celebration of the series' 20 years since it started. There are no details about the cast, release date, or the villains just yet but fans are hoping to see their favorite characters come the movie's release.
It's been many years since the first Power Rangers series made impact to children (now adults), and a refresher could be of help to remember the good old childhood days. For starters, the Power Rangers are young individuals trained by a mentor to morph into different-colored Rangers, with unique and special powers. Every so often, they pilot huge beast-inspired machines called "Zords," which assemble together to make a larger fighting robot. They use their special powers and gigantic Zords to defeat the evil forces of Rita Repulsa.
The Power Rangers were portrayed in different-colored costumes, and abilities. It was popular back then among kids to choose who they are as Power Rangers either in backyard playing, or behind the "Sega" joysticks. Here are the first Power Rangers, their unique set of colors, powers, weapons, and beast-like Zords.
Red Ranger
The Red Power Ranger (Jason Lee Scott) is the leader of the group, with great martial arts skills. Jason dons the Red tyrannosaurus-inspired "morph" costume, which is akin to his robot vehicle Zord. His weapon for combat is the "Power Sword." It's the only weapon among the Power Rangers' arsenal that doesn't have a second function.
Blue Ranger
The Blue Power Ranger (Billy Cranston) is the geeky guy of the group, who eventually became better and stronger in combat. His morp costume is that of a triceratops. The Blue Ranger uses the "Power Lance," which can be split into two individual Sai blades. He can use the separated blades to generate damaging electricity.
Black Ranger
The Black Power Ranger (Zack Taylor) is the athletic and multi-talented guy of the group. He is Jason's best friend in the story. He has the black mastodon-inspired costume. His weapon is the "Power Axe" that can be converted to a "Power Cannon."
Yellow Ranger
The Yellow Power Ranger (Trini-Kwan) is the shy girl of the group but kicks ass with her kung fu. She dons the yellow saber-toothed tiger costume. She wields a twin pair of "Power Daggers" which are effective for melee and long-ranged combat. Its second function is generating an energy double slash.
Pink Ranger
The Pink Power Ranger (Amy Jo Johnson), is the cute popular school girl recruited into the group. Kimberly wears the skirted pink pterodactyl-themed costume. She fires arrows using the "Power Bow," which can also transform into a harp.
Green/White Ranger
The Green Ranger (Jason David Frank) first appears as a villain to the original five Power Rangers. After being free from Rita Repulsa's brainwashing grip, he later joined the Power Rangers group, and later became the White Ranger. Tommy Oliver donned the green and white dragon-inspired costume. His weapon of choice was the "Dragon Dagger." Aside from its combat uses, the Dagger was used to summon the "Dragonzord."
