Do you want to know why Miley Cyrus gave the most talked about raunchy Video Music Awards performance? Well, in Miley's own words, her life is all "messed up" and she has so many "f***ing issues." The 20-year-old singer, who is desperate to shed off her Hannah Montana image, has accepted that what she did was "dumb."

"I'm messed up. I have so many f***ing issues," Cyrus told a U.K. newspaper Mirror. In the most revealing interview ever the singer said that one tends to do "dumb stuff" when they have a messed up life.

Miley performed her single "We Can't Stop" at the awards show before stripping down to a skin-coloured two-piece to simulate sex with Robin Thicke on his summer anthem, "Blurred Lines."

"I am so f***ed up - everyone does dumb stuff when they are messed up," Cyrus, who shocked the nation with her sexually explicit performance, went on to say.

"I don't have a normal life. I take a hiatus every now and again but I'm not good at that," the singer also complained. She went on say that, as a star, her life is very mechanical and revolves around working round the clock without even sleeping!

"All I do is work, so I eat to live and to keep going. People are impressed with me because I can sleep for just 45 minutes - I'm used to it."

So how does this workaholic Miley maintain her health and fitness regime? The singer revealed that she follows a healthy diet and is into yoga, too.

"Because I work so much, I'm always on the road so I eat healthily. I have to give my body what it needs to keep going and if you don't then you will crash and burn. I don't get to work out," she continued.

Miley shocked us by revealing that though she does not have time for working out, she makes it a point to do 30 push-ups every day!

"I do yoga and 30 push-ups every day and try to get my mind right."

In a separate interview with Notion magazine's September issue (which was conducted in August), Miley re-iterated that she is not a Disney Star anymore and people should learn to disconnect the real Miley from Hannah Montana.

"People have this misconception of me that I'm just one of these kids on TV and that now I go off and party and I'm just this ratchet white girl, and I'm not. I work really really hard, I'm just in a different environment," she said.

So what's her advice to young kids who want to enter television?

"Don't do it," she said, adding that kids need to enjoy being a kid. "People don't realize but with so many responsibilities you hold an entire company on your back and you're a kid so you're supposed to f--k up," the singer advised.
