It is the time of the year when everyone comes-up with a list of the best and the most fascinating. There is not an iota of doubt that Miley Cyrus and the royal baby would be topping most of these lists. Thus, it comes as no surprise to see Barbara Walters include them in her list of "Most Fascinating People of the Year."

In addition to Miley Cyrus and Prince George of Cambridge, Walters has also picked Jennifer Lawrence, Kim Kardashian, Kanye West and Edward Snowden, according to a report published by The Hollywood Reporter. Born on July 22, 2013, the royal baby is the youngest celebrity in the list. The birth of Prince George was the most speculated and reported story of the year. The little prince has remained under the media spotlight post-birth, too.

This year, Miley Cyrus performed (read twerked) her way to glory. According to Yahoo Search results, Miley Cyrus has been the most searched term overall. The "Hunger Games" actress, Jennifer Lawrence, has seen a meteoric rise to fame. On Tuesday, The New York Film Critics Circle voted her as the Best Supporting Actress for the yet to be released movie, "American Hustle."

Edward Snowden, the former CIA employee and former NSA contractor, took on the U.S. government by leaking nearly 200,000 classified documents related to mass surveillance. One of the most controversial men of 2013, Snowden has been called a hero, a whistle-blower, a traitor, a patriot and a dissent.

Kim Kardashian has managed to remain in the news throughout the year. In 2013, Kardashian saw her divorce with Kris Humphries finalized. Also, she gave birth to North West and got engaged to the baby's father, Kanye West.

Additionally, the cast of A&E's Duck Dynasty and Robin Roberts, anchor of "Good Morning America," also found a place in Walter's list.

"Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of the Year" is scheduled to air on December 18, 2013 on ABC.
