Miley Cyrus has been slammed for being a less-than-stellar role model for the fans who grew up watching her and listening to her songs. Disgruntled parents criticized her "Bangerz" Tour more than once and even criticized MTV for letting her twerk on the VMAs on 2013. While everyone around her seems to be unhappy with her, Miley Cyrus fights back and says she's happy with herself and she's already done with doing what people want her to do.

In an interview with Australia's "Sunday Night," the controversial singer and former Disney star shared that she never said she is a prime example for kids.

"I don't put myself up on a pedestal and say 'look at me I'm an example'. The only thing I'm an example of is freedom, especially in this time where the energy of the world is shifting from male energy to female energy," said the "Wrecking Ball" singer.

She also shared that she's in the industry because she wants to make music and that she already served her time doing what people and companies want her to do. She's now doing things that she feels would make her happy. She reminds people that everyone has their own lives, so they should be allowed to live it. In addition, she also said she did not sign up to be a pageant queen, but a "rockstar."

The young singer also said that others are constantly amazed on how grounded and centered she is. She defended her partying ways and said going to a club does not necessarily make her a bad person, the same what a churchgoing person cannot be immediately considered a good person.

She said she's in a happy state because all the things she's doing now is for herself. Parents will be happy to know though that this means no more twerking. Miley herself admitted that she's over that phase.

"I'm retired [from twerking]. I'm making some music right now with the Flaming Lips. And it is different, it's a little psychedelic, but still in that pop world. And [I'm] working with some really talented people that I'm really excited about. I live to be in the studio. ... This record might take me five years. I don't know. I'm just going to work on it 'til I'm done," said Miley to Lucy Hale on the red carpet on the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards.
