Miley Cyrus says engagement with Liam Hemsworth is on, but unsure if she wants to legally marry [Video]
Miley Cyrus assured fans that her engagement with Liam Hemsworth is still on despite occasionally taking off her diamond engagement ring, but the 23-year-old pop star hinted about her hesitation to legally get married.
In an interview on “The Ellen DeGeneres” show, the singer-actress said “partnering” for her doesn’t necessarily require a legal document.
"I think young people have a different idea of partnering and not feeling that this necessarily means it is going to have a legal document singed and dated because it's really sharing a life with someone and not about a legal paper that tells me anything even though I fought so hard for LGBTQ rights to be able to get married, but I don't even really want to,” she pointed out.
The newbie coach on “The Voice” did not dismiss the idea of tying the knot with the 26-year-old Aussie actor, with whom she was engaged to marry since 2012. Cyrus and Hemsworth dated after filming the 2010 film “The Last Song,” the movie adaptation of Nicholas Sparks’ romance novel. The couple split in 2013 and eventually reconciled early this year.

Since making their reunion public, Cyrus has been spotted wearing the Neil Lane diamond ring that Hemsworth gave her when he proposed marriage, but the “Hannah Montana” star has been seen in public without the status symbol from time to time. The “Wrecking Ball” singer known for her eccentric fashion sense explained that she would occasionally take the ring off when it doesn’t match her other jewelleries or outfit.
“This is, like, real jewelry,” she said, referring to her engagement ring. “Most of my jewelry is made out of gummy bears and cotton candy, and they don't look that good together because they kind of mix up.
“So sometimes, I like replace it with an actual unicorn or a Looney Tune. And (Hemsworth) is kind of like, 'What's going on?' 'Well,' I am like, 'This isn't really my aesthetic, but I'll wear it because you love me.'
For her part, DeGeneres joked, “He (Liam) could have saved a lot of money by giving you, like, a gummy bear ring.” (Read: Miley Cyrus hosts Ellen DeGeneres show with her clothes on [Video])

“Something that people should understand is, young people in general, what we wear and what a relationship and a commitment means, are very different to what tabloids like to make it mean," she said.
