Support and Condemnation has come pouring in for the raunchy performance of Miley Cyrus. There have been complaints regarding the dance she performed at the MTV Awards with singer Robin Thicke from viewers and celebrities alike. There have also been supporters of Miley coming out in her defence. But one thing that people are unable to do is ignore her.

Perhaps an article from Forbes magazine described it best. The article described her to be the "biggest winner" in spite of the fact that she did not win any awards at the show. She has managed to create a buzz in the social media as well as the electronic media with some people complaining that they see Miley everywhere.

It is only natural for people to find out something about someone who is so talked about. The google searches have consequently soared. She is also a big talking point in the social media. Incidentally Robin Thicke, her dance partner of the controversial dance performance is not getting as much attention as she.

Miley seems to know the power of publicity even if it's a bad one and brags about. "Smilers! My VMA performance had 306.000 tweets per minute. That's more than the blackout or Superbowl! #fact." She tweeted.

The curious audience seem to have started to sample some of her music. "#Bangerz is #3 on iTunes and Wrecking Ball is #5 =]]]" She said on her Facebook page. "Bangerz" is her next music album. The album is due to be released by October. It is available for pre-order on iTunes. Meanwhile the single "We Can't Stop" is topping the charts on iTunes.

The single "Wrecking Ball" which is also doing well on iTunes debuted the same day as the MTV Video Music Awards. Clearly, some people say, her act was all part of a plan. And it seems to be working.

So, has Miley Cyrus' dance act fuelled her stardom? Is her upcoming album going to be a huge success helped largely by the popularity the star has gained due to her performance? The October release of her album can answer some of those questions.
