Miley Cyrus opened up to Barbara Walters in an interview about her past relationship with "Hunger Games" star Liam Hemsworth. She said she believes they were getting engaged too fast at the young age of 19. She also talked about grappling with the fear of being alone. Miley said conquering her fear of being along was bigger than any other transition she went through in 2013. She was interviewed for the ABS News Special, "Barbara Walters Presents: The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2013."

"I don't ever want to have to need someone again, where you feel like, without them, you can't be yourself," admitted Miley. Miley, 21 and Liam, 23 were together for four years before they announced their engagement in 2012. The couple confirmed their breakup in September 2013 though and while she admits having loved Liam, Miley believes she can now be happy on her own.

Some of the tracks on the pop star's latest album "Bangerz," refer to love. In the single, "Drive," Miley sings the lyrics: "I was crazy, thinking you were mine. It was all just a lie." Miley denies that it has something to do with her relationship with Liam. She says she doesn't think there were any lies.

Miley said she doesn't think she realized what 19 truly is because she got engaged at the said age. She said she wouldn't change it because it was fun wearing a "fat rock" for a few years but she can now be happy by herself, waiting for moments of silence alone at her house.

When she was asked whether she still wants to get married and spend the rest of her life with someone, Miley said, "I think I'll want that in the times that it needs to be."

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth met on the set of their 2009 movie, "The Last Song." They broke up after Miley received a mad rash of press following her controversial MTV VMA performance in August 2013 and upon rumours that Liam was spotted kissing model Eiza Gonzalez.
