There is no surprise that the Twerking Queen Miley Cyrus is nominated for Time's Person of the Year award thanks to her drastic transformation this year. A headline magnet, Cyrus recently celebrates her 21st birthday and is currently leading Time magazine's Person of the Year online poll way ahead from notable figures in politics, entertainment and religion.

The poll winner is scheduled to be revealed on Dec. 6 but the winner isn't necessarily the person to be hailed as Time's Person of the Year. The real winner who will be featured in the magazine will be announced on Dec. 11, and with the long list of nominees editors will have a hard time picking the right one worthy of the title.

The former Disney star is no doubt successful commercially for the whole year of 2013 as she drums up massive amounts of social buzz. Her YouTube views alone are making headlines and her music sales is skyrocketing due to a combination of talent and controversial antics.

Thanks to her, the word "twerk" is now in Oxford Dictionaries Online. But the question now is, does she have what it takes to be hailed as Time's Person of the Year?

Her controversial performance for this year's MTV Video Music Awards dominated social conversations for months, and she followed it up with her naked "Wrecking Ball" video where she topped the record for most views in 24 hours.

Cyrus is currently ahead of BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and former NSA defense contractor Edward Snowden. Time magazine described Modi as "the controversial Hindu nationalist and Chief Minister of the Indian state of Gujarat is the most likely candidate to unseat India's ruling Congress party in the world's largest democracy."

Miley is also besting the pope himself, Pope Francis, including Ted Cruz, Rand Paul, Vladimir Putin, Angelina Jolie, Bashar Al-Assad, Alice Munro, Wendy Davis, Lebron James, Shinzo Abe and U.S. President Barack Obama. Aside from Modi and Snowden, Putin and Al-Assad are Miley's top competitors.
