Miley Cyrus vows to change her ways after she was caught on video smoking the psychedelic herb salvia. Many were upset by the latest controversy involving Miley, calling her actions as irresponsible for someone that many children idolize.

Even Cyrus' parents Billy Ray and Trish, who are in the process of divorce, are disappointed with the actress, but the former Hanna Montana star promised to behave from now on.

"Even though Miley is of legal age and able to make her own decisions in most matters, she still remains very close to her parents," a source told the National Enquirer.

"[Miley] is headstrong and likes to make her own decisions, but she truly loves her Mom and Dad... [The actress] knew right away that this video of her partying with 'pals' and puffing on a bong would send them over the edge.

The video shows Cyrus under the influence of salvia, a known hallucinogenic. It solicited criticisms for the actress with some sectors even calling it irresponsible since many of Miley's fans are young adults. However, many noted that Cyrus was not doing anything illegal by consuming salvia, since at the time the video was recorded she was already of legal age. The herb can be obtained legally in the state of California.

"After listening to [Trish's and Billy Ray's] terrible fears that she's heading down the wrong path and losing control, Miley made this solemn vow to her parents: She will straighten up and start acting like the role model to young fans that she should be," said the source.
