"Roar" singer Katy Perry made a comment that she is heading the same path that led to Britney Spears' breakdown after her controversial performance at the VMA. But the "Wrecking Ball" singer addressed Katy's comment by taking it as a compliment by how much history Britney has made over the years.
Both singers carved their way to stardom as teen actors staring at Disney's successful series and made a name for themselves as a successful singer when they launched their first album. So lets take a look how far these two talented singers has achieved by age 20.
By the age of 14, Miley Cyrus as Hannah Montana released her "The Best of Both Worlds" single and debuted as number 92 on the Billboard Hot 100 with commercial success in UK and Ireland. But her success in the music industry came when she released her double-disk record which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 with first-week sales of 326,000 copies, and became a certified triple-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.
After the success of her double-disk record, Miley released her second studio album "Breakout" where she co-wrote eight out of twelve songs and the album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 with first-week sales of 371,000 copies. The "Breakout" album was Miley's highest week sales to date and her third number-one album on the chart where she receive a Platinum certification that denotes the sales on one million copies.
Now at the age of 20, Miley made headlines for herself when she released her first single "We Can't Stop" from her fourth studio album Bangerz and made a controversial performance at the MTV Video Music Awards. She then followed it up when she released her second single "Wrecking Ball" where she swings with the demolition device in nude which made the single the most viewed video with over nine million views after a day it was released.
Britney Spear released her debut album ...Baby One More Time by the age of 17 and debuted number one on the US Billboard 200 which made the album a certified two-times platinum and topped the charts in fifteen countries as she sold over 10 millions copies in a year. The album became the biggest selling album ever by a teenage artist, her single sold 500,000 copies on its first day and claimed the number one spot on the Billboard hot 100 for two consecutive weeks.
By the age of 19 Britney received her first Grammy nomination for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance with her song "...Baby One More Time", and became the 25th most successful song of all time in British chart history. She then released her second studio album "Oops!... I Did It Again" with over 25 million copies sold worldwide, making it as one of the best-selling album of all time. By Age 20, she embarked on the Dream Within a Dream Tour that grossed $43.7 million and became the second highest grossing tour of 2002 by a female artist.
