Miley Cyrus gave a formal statement Monday that the rumours spreading about her engagement with Aussie boyfriend and 'Hunger Games' star Liam Hemsworth are not true. The commotion was set afire when the former Disney star and singer revealed a picture of her left hand wearing a ring.

It was at Twitter as well that Cyrus told her 5.3 million followers that she is not engaged. She said that the ring many saw is not an engagement ring at all for it is a topaz one she has worn since November.

It was late last week when the stories started spreading due to her tweeted picture. According to the young singer, she posed the photo to show off her fresh manicure and not to give emphasis to the ring. The two have been dating since the time they were filming 'The Last Song' in 2009. And then, more hot news went on like rapid fire, as everyone discovered Liam was already getting steady with Miley and that he is the younger sibling of Chris Hemsworth who also starred as 'Thor.'

Liam now is set to be on the rise due to being chosen for the hit film adaptation that would start off this year entitled 'The Hunger Games.' So far, the film achieved the biggest US opening over the weekend with $155 million.
