Millions of bank customers suffer from yet another NAB computer meltdown
Potentially millions of customers are still waiting for their pay following the latest in a series of glitches at National Australia Bank (ASX: NAB) which have disrupted payment processing.
NAB in a statement at lunchtime today confirmed that customers had not been paid, although it did not elaborate on the cause.
“National Australia Bank wishes to advise that it is currently experiencing some delays and as a result some customer accounts may not yet be up to date,” it said.
NAB has also been communicating directly with frustrated customers via its official Twitter account.
"Some NAB customers' account balances may not be up-to-date this AM. We are investigating the issue and will update ASAP," the bank tweeted.
NAB spokesman George Wright said the current glitch is not connected to the severe issue seen in November last year.
Mr Wright maintained “this issue that we're experiencing today is not of the same nature - it is a different issue, and we don't have a systemic issue."
The computing failure affected payrolls normally processed on Thursday night and may not be limited to payrolls processed through NAB.
ANZ, Westpac, and Commonwealth Bank have all indicated possible impact on payrolls processed by NAB. Macquarie Bank, HSBC, Citibank, Bank of Scotland and UBS have likewise been affected.
NAB said it is currently working to rectify this matter and will provide further updates throughout the course of today.
