‘Minecraft’ for Oculus Rift teased again, new Skin Pack, 0.15.4 update coming to Windows 10, Pocket Edition
“Minecraft” has been demoed and teased for a VR experience. And now, a new teaser has linked the “Minecraft Windows 10 Edition” for VR support for the Oculus Rift.
Road to VR reported that PC players can finally get their own version of VR support for the “Minecraft Windows 10 Edition” in the coming weeks. Without going into the specifics of definite dates, the Mojang reportedly hinted that the game will finally land on the platform to fulfil the promise that Oculus CTO John Carmack has said before.
“Minecraft” has already been available via Gear VR and HTC Vive, so this is not really the first time that the game is landing on virtual reality territory. But Oculus has been hard at work to deliver the immersive experience that will take “Minecraft” players one step deeper into the game.
For players on the “Minecraft Windows 10 Edition” and “Minecraft Pocket Edition,” the 0.15.4 update has already been released. It contains a couple of new bug fixes, as well as the expected villains skin pack.
The following tweaks were included in the new update:
- More localization fixes.
- Fixed the HUD moving when riding an animal in VR.
- Fixed a few texture issues.
- Some tweaks to Gear VR edition performance & experience.
- Increased draw distance for Win 10 edition.
As for the “Minecraft” Villains Skin Pack, pictured above, it will be hitting the Pocket Edition and Windows 10 Edition for US$1.99 (approx. AU$2.60), as per the Mojang post. Players who decide not to purchase the skin pack can still get a few of the skins for free, as is the usual practice with all “Minecraft” skin packs.
The Villains Sin Pack is already available, and it will allow players to take on the role of the sinister Stronghold Seer, the ferocious Lava Fiend and enjoy 17 skins all in all. Some of these skins include thePatchkin, the Endergaunt, the Eyece, the Terror Spawner, the Dungeon Spectre, the Slymime and the Cake Maniac.
