Coders Rest In The Office Of Swedish Company Mojang In Stockholm
Coders rest in the Mojang company office in Stockholm January 21, 2013. A pool table, a pinball machine, board games and Lego dot the offices of Mojang, the small Swedish company behind the wildly popular Minecraft video game, and one of its founders is wearing a tuxedo and purple tie on a recent "formal Friday". The atmosphere reflects the independent spirit that has contributed to the raw identity of the game that has just sold 20 million copies. The founders want to keep it that way. Mojang, the Swedish word for gadget, has so far resisted selling to a bigger player or listing on the stock market even though that could mean monster payoffs for the 25-person staff and funding to expand dramatically its games. August will finally bring in the "Minecraft PS4 Edition," "Minecraft Xbox One Edition" and the "Minecraft PS Vita Edition."

But for the longest time with some updates here and there from developer 4J Studios, the "Minecraft PS Vita Edition" seemed to be the one version that had fewer updates compared to the other two.

4J Studios remedied this by showing off a new tweet that also included a snapshot of how the "Minecraft PS Vita Edition" already looks like.

As far as the other versions are concerned, 4J Studios has also answered a fan query on what else they are up to in terms of the development. In another tweet discussing the "Minecraft PS4 Edition" and "Minecraft Xbox One Edition," 4J Studios said:

@feniixpro Fixing bugs mainly. Also working on save file transfer from PS3 to PSVita/PS4 and Xbox 360 to Xbox One. — 4J Studios (@4JStudios) July 18, 2014

A New Snapshot 14w29b Released

Even the PC version for Minecraft 1.8 is getting a few developments in the form of snapshots and the new one has just been released. The Snapshot 14w29b gives a glimpse of more things to come for the Minecraft 1.8.

"We can never be sure if bending space around time is the right approach until we get feedback from you on the 14w29b snapshot that bends time around space instead. We do that by using the newly implemented threaded render batch system," said Mojang in the official Mojang Web site.

"That's a lot a fancy sounding words, so if you don't know what that means, it should improve performance even more. Or crash horribly. But without your feedback, we'll never know which one is true."

Following previous releases, which have already optimized some performances and enabled better FPS, as well as experimented on a few more additions to the menu.

Some of these new additions, first seen in Snapshot 14w29a include effects on starvation on sleep for characters, Minecarts and TNT not being movable by water currents and other command issues.

The latest fixes for Snapshot 14w29b only deal with two areas:

- Players lose CommandStats{} after Death

- #players are taking up space on the sidebar display

As usual, the Mojang team wants to hear feedback from fans to ensure that everything is working properly in the snapshot, even more so if there are bugs found so they can get back to fixing them.
