Minecraft PS3 Gets Disc in May, Texture Packs Teased and Updates on Patch 1.05
The Minecraft PS3 has enjoyed a successful launch since it first broke away from the exclusivity of the game to the PC and Xbox franchise. And it has already seen a million downloads, thus letting Minecraft enjoy a wider following and fan base.
And now, those who want a retail, hard copy version can do so, including items that came with the TU14 as well as all the inclusions of the console version of the game.
"Following on the successful launch, we're pleased to confirm that Minecraft PlayStation 3 Edition will be available on retail disc starting May 16th. That means you can go into a real-life store, buy it, and then take it home in a little bag," said Owen Hill of 4J Studios over at the PlayStation Blog.
Minecraft on the PlayStation has even better and more news, starting with the fact that 4J Studios, developer of the Minecraft versions for the Xbox and PC, has already announced that Minecraft will also be dropping onto the PS4 and PS Vita.
Still, no concrete timelines have been detailed by the developer yet, but the creators have stated that they are taking their time to ensure that the product is something that the brand will be proud of.
Patch 1.05 details and future plans for 1.06
4J Studios has also announced that the Patch 1.05 is already rolling out for the PS3. Most of the items on the change log are fixes involving voice chat and audio issues, incorrect maps on the screen, Enderdragon sounds, spawning problems, the invisibility of tamed wolves when swimming, bonus chests being able to spawn in pre-TU14 worlds and more.
You can check out the entire change log here.
As far as the Minecraft PS3 Patch 1.06, 4J Studios has also confirmed two texture packs coming with it:
"Natural Texture Pack will be in #MinecraftPS3 Patch 1.06."
"Yes, the Candy Texture Pack will also be in #MinecraftPS3 Patch 1.06."
The Candy Texture Pack is the promised pack that takes after the very popular Candy Crush Saga look, as transformed in Minecraft.
One interesting note is that the developer has stated that the two texture packs will be coming with the Patch 1.06, assumed to be the MinecraftTU16. However, in their latest Twitter update, it was stated that they are already "wrapping up" the Candy Texture Pack.
Does this mean that the Minecraft Patch 1.06 or TU16 is already done or at least already in the drawing board this early in the game?
