‘Minority Report’ star Wilmer Valderrama says Steven Spielberg made him look really good
“Minority Report” season 1 episode 1 titled “Pilot” failed to have good ratings when it aired on Fox on Sept. 21, Monday. But prior to the premiere, one of its stars Wilmer Valderrama shared good words about Steven Spielberg, the director of the original 2002 film that starred Tom Cruise and Colin Farrell.
Spielberg is one of the executive producers of the Fox TV adaptation of his “Minority Report” film. In an interview with The Wrap, Valderrama said the three-time Academy Award-winning director is “really amazingly hands-on” with everything from the palettes to the screens, stories, directors and actors.
According to Valderrama, Spielberg was also hands-on even with his wardrobe and made him look “really good.” He revealed that the Fox series “Minority Report” executive producer hand-picked the entire cast.
Along with Valderrama, the main cast of the “Minority Report” drama series includes Zhane Hall, Li Jun Li, Laura Regan, Daniel London, Nick Zano, Meagan Good and Stark Sands. Tina Lifford and Jennifer Cheon also play recurring roles.
Valderrama also shared that Spielberg has opened the archives of the “Minority Report” film for the cast to bring not only the mythology but also some of the artifacts of the film into the new Fox series. The actor said they are calling the TV adaptation of the movie its official sequel.
With a 1.1 rating, “Minority Report” season 1 episode 1 titled “Pilot” attracted 3.1 million total viewers only. The low ratings may be partly caused by the “Gotham” lead-in, according to Cinema Blend.
“Minority Report” season 1 episode 1 titled “Pilot” was directed by Mark Mylod, who also directed two episodes of “Game of Thrones” season 5 and two more episodes of the HBO series’ upcoming season 6. He also directed episodes of “United States od Tara,’ “Entourage” and “Shameless.”
Aside from playing a lead character in the “Minority Report” drama series, Valderrama is currently filming “Charming,” in which he is lending his voice to Prince Charming with his girlfriend Demi Lovato lending her voice to Lenore. From 1998 to 2006, he starred in “That ‘70s Show” with Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis and Laura Prepon, among others.
